Raman Spectroscopy

Raman spectroscopy is the spectroscopic study of the inelastic scattering of light by molecules or solids. From the frequency, intensity, spectrum and polarization of the scattered light, one can learn about material properties such as crystallinity, orientation, composition, strain, temperature, doping, relaxation, etc. Raman spectroscopy also allows statements to be made about aqueous systems that are not accessible via infrared spectroscopy.
