Chromatography Flash-

Flash chromatography is a chemical separation process used to purify or isolate various liquid substances. The mixture is passed over a column at low pressure. This results in varying degrees of adsorption of the components on the separation column, leading to separation of the mixture. A UV/VIS lamp can be used to identify the components. This is then integrated into a UV-VIS detector. Each substance has a specific absorption pattern. The detector records the absorption pattern of the different substances after they have passed through the separation column, allowing the different components to be clearly identified and distinguished from one another. This analytical separation method is used particularly frequently in industry and biology, e.g. for the separation of amino acids.
